When most businesses refurnish their offices, they often focus on desks rather than office chairs. The office chairs that are purchased are dictated more by cost than comfort or ergonomics. In many cases, what is left of the budget is what is spent on office chairs. Unfortunately, this line of thinking is quite flawed.

What do you spend most of the time doing at your office? Sitting in your office chair, working at your desk. You spend the most time sitting in your office chair. The style and design of an office desk is 90 percent esthetics and has very little to do with comfort and ergonomics. In contrast, only 10 per cent of an office chair’s style and design is esthetics.

Office chairs are built for comfort. Quite obviously, the more expensive a chair is, the better and more comfortable it will be, right? This is not always the case. Office chairs can be quite ergonomic and comfortable even if they are relatively inexpensive. Office chairs should be purchased based on comfort, style, and ergonomic design. Comfortable employees are much happier than ones who are left sitting in cheap, uncomfortable office chairs. Productivity in the workplace is known to increase with the simple purchase of better and more comfortable office chairs.

A desk is simply a raised platform made of wood and it can be made out of virtually anything. An office chair, on the other hand, is the piece of furniture in your office that is used the most often and the most rigorously.
